UN Intel Dept

Cain’s data package had caused a stir in Harlow’s otherwise professionally kept and expert department. He has asked favours from his staff to work late because of the delay in receiving the data. Wilson has demanded a draft report for the morning to present to Staff 5.

The data package was split between specialised departments: technical schematics to one, military infrastructure to another – building blueprints, imperial bank funds and money transfers distributed to other departments. And of course the intelligence gathered on the Anomaly which is now being referred to as the Imperial Van Allen Weapon (IVAW).

Other labs had the task of deciphering scripts, orders and documents while others investigated security and army numbers and communication links. The operation seemed massive and uncharted – never had such an operation within the Secret Service seen this scale of manpower.

Harlow remained confident that his staff would make good head way throughout the night.

He leads by way of example and is extremely thorough – no stone left unturned. His appetite for uncovering the truth was spurred on by his motive to expose possible UN spies. Spies which he suspects are working for the Imperial State.

Since Wilson’s election to the position of Secretary General he has seen the benefits of this department. He has built a special bond with Harlow and knows that he can rely on him and his team.

Currently Wilson sees the department as an essential cog in the global family machine, especially when taking into consideration current events. The department is considered by some as a secret service and often referred to as such.

Those that get caught up in the affairs are subject to investigation – unconventional investigations. Unsuspecting investigations, surveillance investigations, big brother type investigations – in fact, any way to gain information can be used.

Since its formation in the late 21st century the service also serves as a dual agency and safeguards the world’s financial infrastructure and integrity of the world economy. It protects national leaders and visiting heads of state. It is seen to be more trusting and fairer than those of other governments.

The 21st and 22nd floors of the UN building are home to the UN Intelligence & Office for Defence (UN-ID). One lab in particular has been given the monotonous task of sifting through the surveillance videos. As a stroke of pure luck the Ops team managed to upload a segment of palace security video.

Two juniors have agreed to stay on for extra pay and of course for the recognition it gains them from the boss. Together they can read and understand most of China’s ethnic dialects which make up 57 ethnic groups.

Kevin Chan and Karen Cheung started going over the palace videos. Easy money, Kevin thought, not like we’ll have to decipher anything or crack codes, he assumed. All they had was roughly four hours of video to go through. As midnight approached the mood in the small lab turned drab, boredom took over as the initial onset of excitement faded.

Kevin yawned from lack of enthusiasm; he had passed up a chance to be out on town with his pals for this.
